This book centers on the southern half of Utah’s Great Basin, better known locally as the West Desert. A large part of this is the story of Jack Watson, a sheepman who went to the middle of nowhere and built a small sheepherder’s store & hotel or boarding house at what he called Ibex. It operated from 1897 until the mid-1930’s. Also included is the history of the Antelope Spring CCC Camp, hermit Bob Stinson, sheepmen of the West Desert, the Winter of 1948-49, a fossil hunting guide to the area, and finally a hiking and mtn. climbing guide to the western half of Millard and Beaver Counties.
